“Nothing hurts a good soul and a kind heart more than to live amongst those who cannot understand it.”
I’ve navigated through life feeling very isolated and never really experiencing a sense of belonging. There are many reasons for this and I’ve only really been practicing asking for help in the past year. Whilst I believe that everything we need – to overcome obstacles & challenges – lies within, i also believe that human connection is absolutely necessary.
Support structures, or rays of sunshine 🌞 as i like to call them is essential to building confidence and psychological safety. These are the people who celebrate in your joy and comfort you in sadness.
They are the people you feel safe with, the people you trust and the people who you rely on in good AND in challenging times.
Having a support structure also allows for a regulated nervous system and reduced anxiety. Support structures facilitate social and emotional development, inspires confidence, teamwork, connection and empathy.
🔹Do your kids know who their rays of sunshine are?
🔹Do they understand the importance and value of trust and how to build trusting relationships?
🔹Do they know what the foundation of healthy relationships are?
🔹Do you speak to them about the relationships they cultivate at school and with family members?
🔹Do you teach them to be kind and how to show kindness?
Reminder: Be a ray of sunshine to those who don’t have a tribe also.
